You fly from Kathmandu to Nepal and then to Juphal. Your anti-clockwise trekking journey starts from Juphal. The trekking trail leads to isolated and remote highlands of the Dolpo region. There are grassland, alpine vegetation, and barren landscapes. Mostly the people are Tibetan with unique and well-preserved culture. They have been here for generation after generation. People in Dolpo practice Buddhism. Dolpo is one of the few places in Nepal where pre- Buddhist Bon Po religion is still practiced. Yak caravan at the traditional salt trade route to Tibet amazes travellers. The Hollywood movie “Caravan” has depicted the true essence of this region. You explore the ancient monasteries decorated with old murals and idols. During the trek, you cross Numa La Pass and Baga La Pass which are over 5000m. Welcome to Kathmandu
While entering the border of Nepal, you see the Terai Plain and the everlasting green hills. The Himalayas at the horizon smile over your arrival in Nepal. After custom clearance, proceed toward the arrival terminal (gate). Our company’s representative receives you and transfers to the hotel as assigned.

Fly Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
After breakfast, you drive to the domestic terminal and take a flight to Nepalgunj. It takes 1 hour to reach Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is a cultural hub of Hindu and Muslim people. It lies in the western part of Nepal at a border between Nepal and India. Nepalgunj is a gateway to Humla, Simikot – the remote sectors of Nepal. You can explore the local market and enjoy your time at Nepalgunj.

Fly Nepalgunj to Juphal (2,320m). Trek to Dunai (2,850m)
After breakfast, you fly to Juphal with a scenic view of the mountains. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Juphal, a small beautiful town at the foothill of Himalayas. To the North, you can see Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks. You meet our other staff waiting for your arrival.
From Juphal, you trek downhill to Dunai – administrative headquarters of the Dolpo Region. The trail passes through beautiful terraced fields, Bheri River and the narrow gorge. Dunai is a comparatively larger town than Juphal. You have enough time to explore the village. Setup the camp for the night.

Trek Dunai to Tarakot (2,543m)
After breakfast, your journey starts to Tarakot, a small village on a hillock above the southern bank of Bheri River. You trek along the Bheri River and the Barbung River. You pass through the deep gorge of pine forest and traverse a path built seven meters above the river. As you approach Tarakot, a beautiful terraced field welcomes you. Tarakot was an ancient fortress built by local people. It used to be a toll collection center for trading caravans. An overnight camp set up above the Bheri River.

Trek Tarakot to Laini (3,160m)
Having breakfast, you trek toward Laini; our next stopover. Today, you walk along the Tarap Chu River. You reach to a beautiful & famous Sandul Gomba after crossing the suspension bridges. The gompa lies at the junction of two rivers; Barbung River and Tarap Chu River. Afterward, the trail goes ups and downs through some beautiful rural villages. You see amazing terrace fields near the village. You reach Laini.

Trek Laini to Nawarpani (3,545m)
After early morning breakfast, your journey begins with a steep climb. You will be following the Tarap Chu River. Leaving behind the wide valley, you enter to narrow gorge. In some places, you have to jump from one place to another. You might have to put logs or stone slab for an easier walk. With a rigorous and excitement walk, you finally reach Chyugur Khola. Nawarpani is just ahead.

Trek Nawarpani to Dho Tarap (4,090m)
Take a morning walk with a gradual ascend to Kamattarka. Kamattarka is a confluence point where the Tarap Chu River and the Lang River meet. You leave behind the narrow gorge and pass to the inner Himalayan valley. The trail is above the tree line with wild rose and juniper bushes. The climate is dry. After walking several hours, you reach Dho Tarap. The irregular stones surround the Dho Tarap. There are 30-35 households where most of the people are Magar and few are Tibetan. The people here are Buddhist followers with Bon Po sect and Chaiba sect residing together.

Acclimatization Day
Acclimatization at Dho Tarap, a day to get your body well acclimatized and proper rest. It is a perfect chance for you to explore the village and its culture. You can interact with locals and know more about them. The best way to make small children fond of you is to give them some chocolates. The people are very friendly. They wear homespun clothes sometimes dyed with maroon colour. Both men and women are fond of wearing the religious amulet, and the string of coral, amber, and turquoise. You can visit local Buddhist monasteries at your disposal time.

Trek Dho Tarap to Numa La Base Camp (4,440m)
After your wonderful time at Dho Tarap, it is time to move forward. Your journey continues toward Upper Tarap Valley. The valley is full of highland pasture ground on both sides of the Tarap Chu River. You continue walking along the river. Enjoy the view of green valley and high mountains. This part of the valley is mysterious and beautiful. Such a view is not found anywhere else in Inner Dolpo. You reach a village called Tokyu where Chaiba sect resides. Explore the gompa and the village. The onward journey is difficult as the trail is rough up to Numa La Base Camp.

Trek Numa La Base Camp to Pelung Tang (4,465m) via Numa La Pass (5,190m)
Today, crossing the Numa La Pass will be more strenuous and longer as compared to before. After breakfast, your journey starts. The trail goes steep upward up to the top ridge of Numa La Pass. The view from the top is incredibly beautiful and breathtaking. You see the inner Dolpo valley, barren landscapes, and mountains as well as the north face of Dhaulagiri (8167m). You trek downward after having some quality time at the Numa La Pass. You reach Pelung Tang and rest.

Trek Pelung Tang to Dajok Tang (4,080m) via Baga La Pass (5,070m)
After breakfast, you start your journey with a steep climb up to the top of Baga La Pass. The journey is difficult yet rewarding. You can see the barren landscape and mountains wide and beautiful. In a distant, you can see snow-capped Mt. Kanjirowa. Spend some time clicking and enjoying the view. You trek downward and reach Dajok Tang.

Trek Dajok Tang to Ringmo (3,600m)
Today’s trek will be a lot easier. You will pass through beautiful Pine forest and alpine vegetation. Leaving behind the pine forest, you see pasture land and alpine shrubs until you reach Ringmo. The trail goes gradual ups and downs with a great view. Ringmo is a Tibetan settlement near to Phoksundo Lake, our final destination.

Hike Ringmo to Phoksundo Lake (3,611m)
Today we hike to Phoksundo Lake and explore. We set up the camp at its shore and enjoy the view. You can see yak caravans moving in and out of Ringmo. They use the ancient salt trade route for trade. The mountain route to the Tibetan border is beautiful yet full of danger. This scene is even depicted in a famous Hollywood movie “Caravan”. On the way, you visit the nearby monastery. Upon reaching the lake, you have a walk at shore and enjoy the serene views.

Trek Phoksundo Lake to Shyanta (2,520m)
Wake up with the beautiful view of the Phoksundo Lake. After breakfast, you start your trek. From Phoskundo Lake, you trek downward to Chepka. On the trek, you will find many medicinal minerals. Local people believe that those minerals can cure every disease. You pass through some village and take the uphill climb to reach Shyanta.

Trek Shyanta to Juphal
From Shyanta, you trek to Juphal via Sulighat. The trail is gradual up and passes through birch and pine forests. From the ridge, you see mountains on the horizon and Juphal village below. Take extra measures while trekking downward. Upon reaching Juphal, you spend your remaining time exploring local market.

Fly Juphal to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu
You catch an early morning flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj. Again, you fly Nepalgunj to Kathmandu on the next available flight. Our representative will transfer you to the hotel. Enjoy your rest day exploring the market, organizing photos and recalling the trip. At Evening, you will have farewell dinner from the company side for the completion of the trip.

Explore Kathmandu
The exploration of Kathmandu valley starts after taking breakfast. You will visit some of the ancient UNESCO heritage which is an important destination. Our tour guide will take you to Pashupatinath Temple and its surroundings to explore. This temple is the holiest destination on Earth for Hindu. The temple’s architecture is a masterpiece to behold. After this, you will visit Boudhanath Stupa which is the largest stupa in Nepal. After exploration, visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, the monkey temple of Nepal. These two stupas are the pious destination for Buddhists. The vibes you get from these places are unworldly and divine. As time goes by, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, one of the oldest squares in the valley. From here, we can walk up to the Thamel market. If you want, you can do the shopping as well. Evening, we have a farewell dinner.

In this travel package, we arrange transport facilities for Arrival & Departure depending upon the group size. For sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley, we arrange a good vehicle. You have an airport drop and pick up within this package. The vehicle will be nice and clean for transfer. We will arrange flight tickets from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj to Juphal and return. In the case of extra transportation arrangements (leaving the trek earlier from the group, heli charter or others not mentioned), you are responsible for an extra cost.
The accommodation at Kathmandu is in the 3-star hotel on a BB basis. During the trek, each night you stay on a tea house/guesthouse run by local communities. Most of the tea houses are basic. The room is on a sharing basis with two beds. You will have a common hall for your meal & relaxing. In some places, the washroom (toilet) during the trek is the Squat toilet and used as a sharing one. We are not responsible for extra night accommodation in Kathmandu or other destinations. You might have to take extra night accommodation due to early arrival, late departure, early return from the trek, or due to any other reasons than the scheduled itinerary. You have to bear the cost of crew members as well as yours for meal & accommodation if you have to take an extra day in the trek.
The Lower Dolpo Circuit Trek is within a restricted region of Nepal. You’ll need a special trekking permit to access this route. A Solo trekker is also not allowed, whereas a minimum group size should be of two people. The permits required during this Lower Dolpo Circuit Trek are; 1. Special Restricted Area Permit 2. Shey Phoksundo National Park Permit 3. TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) Card
At Kathmandu, Breakfast is from the hotel side while the guest has to arrange Lunch and Dinner on their own. At the same time, it is the best chance to explore Nepali style food in Nepali Restaurants. On request, the Lunch & Dinner is served. Farewell dinner will be served on behalf of Lets Trip Nepal Adventure Pvt. Ltd. The meal during the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek will be a simple and authentic Nepalese style. The breakfast and the dinner will be served at the tea house where you are staying overnight, and the lunch will be served on the way. The meals provided are fresh, organic, and locally grown vegetables. We don’t recommend having non-veg items (meats & dairy) during the trek, as they are not hygienic & healthy. Consumption of alcoholic drinks, caffeinated items & hot chocolate are bad during high altitude trek. All the Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be in the package during the trek.
The Lower Dolpo Circuit Trek is a strenuous trek. This is a recommended trek for experienced and fit trekkers. Beware of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) while trekking. There is a gain in altitude and your body must be well acclimatized. To have the stabilized stamina, attitude and determination you can have a week-long walking practice before your trek day. If you have any critical problems like heart diseases, blood cancer, lungs problem, and other life-threatening diseases, please consult your doctor before trekking and take necessary measures. You must inform any kind of such complication to Lets Trip Nepal Adventure Pvt. Ltd. as well.
The best time to visit Lower Dolpo Circuit Trek will be in Spring (March-May), summer/monsoon season (June – August) and Autumn (September – November). During monsoon, the trip will be easier because of the rain shadow. This is the best time to explore the unexplored terrain and the climatic condition is favorable. The weather will be warm, clean, and sunny with an incredible view of mountains and hills on the horizon.
Tipping is solely a traveller’s choice, be more or less entirely their perception. The wages provided to Guide(s) & Porter(s) for the trek are basic wage which will be used for meals & accommodation. Normally, tips are offered at the end of the trek or end of the whole trip. The amount to give is decided by the group depending upon your perception of service quality, length of trip, budget, and appreciation of their work. In Nepalese culture, tipping is the way to express your happiness about the trip and our service quality. Our company crews; Guide(s), Porter(s) & driver(s) are always there for you to take care and make your trip a success – the trip of a lifetime experience.
The weight limit for your luggage is 9 kg per trekker. Porters will be assigned to carry your luggage for your trek. One porter will carry the bags of two guests. The combined luggage should not exceed more than 18 kg. We are travelling to higher altitudes and should think about porters as well. So, we never overload our porters. You should carry your own knapsack or backpack (with your valuables or anything important) on your own. Only carry what are essentials, you have to leave any excess baggage either at your hotel or at the Lets Trip Nepal Adventure store for free and it’ll be completely safe.
Your trekking trail goes to the remote destinations of Nepal. Most of the places don’t have a good health center or even medicine at a time. So, you have to carry the necessary medicine and think about travel safety. Our, guide(s) and porter(s) will not be responsible for bad health hazards due to the use of any medicine. They are only responsible to make your treks successful and give guidance during the trip.
