Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lake and Cho La Pass is an ideal trek in the Khumbu Region of Nepal. It combines the legendary trek to Everest Base Camp and the trek to the turquoise lake, Gokyo Lake. During the trek, we cross over one of the highest passes in the world, the Cho La Pass. The trail passes through Sherpa villages and ancient monasteries. We explore those ancient heritages and broaden our horizons. Further, the trail leads among the amazing mountains domain and highland pastureland. The view of the Himalayan vistas is a lifetime experience you can buy with less investment.
The beautiful trekking journey starts with a thrilling flight to the Lukla airstrip. As you get off, the Himalayas welcome you with their cool breeze. First, we descend to the Phakding. We take an uphill steady walk to Namche crossing over Hillary suspension bridge. The bowl-shaped Namche bazaar welcomes you with warm Tibetan greetings. Savour the traditional sherpa cuisine and get acclimatize your body. It is a perfect chance to explore the beautiful market. From Namche, the trail split to Phortse, the unexplored and authentic Sherpa village. Its lifestyle and culture are worth exploring. The trek further leads to Gokyo Valley. There is a turquoise lake, the Gokyo Lake known for its beautiful color. There is Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal. We hike to Gokyo Ri, the view from here is very appealing. The trek to Cho La Pass is strenuous yet rewarding. You can see the best view of Ama Dablam and other mountains. The trek to the Everest Base Camp lets you see Khumbu Glacier along with Khumbu Icefall. From Kalapatthar you can see a beautiful sunrise over Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse. Welcome to Kathmandu (1,300m)
While entering the border of Nepal, you will see the Terai Plain and the everlasting green hills. The Himalayas at the horizon smile over your arrival in Nepal. After Customs clearance, you proceed toward the arrival terminal (gate). Our company representative will receive you and transfer you to the hotel as assigned.

Explore Kathmandu and Trek preparation
The exploration of Kathmandu Valley starts after having breakfast. We will visit some of the ancient UNESCO heritage sites, which is an important destination. Our tour guide will take you to Pashupatinath Temple and its surroundings to explore. This temple is the holiest destination on Earth for Hindus. The temple’s architecture is a masterpiece to behold. After this, you will visit Boudha Stupa which is the largest stupa in Nepal. After exploration, you will visit Swoyambhu Stupa, the monkey temple of Nepal. These two stupas are a pious destination for Buddhists. The vibes you get from these places are unworldly and divine. As time goes by, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, one of the oldest squares in the valley. From here, you can walk up to the Thamel market if you have some shopping left to do for trekking. Or you will be dropped off to your hotel.

Fly Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860m). Trek to Phakding (2,651m)
Early morning, we drive to the domestic airport. We take a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. It takes 35 minutes to reach Lukla. During the flight, you will see thousands of hills covered with clouds and veined with rivers. The Mountain View will excite our new venture to the Everest region.
As soon as we land at Lukla Airport, the fresh smells of the Himalayas hype our emotions. We explore the local market while our support staff will load the luggage and gear. The trail to Phakding is almost downhill. We descend and reach Cheplung Village from where the view of Mt. Khumbila is way too incredible to behold. The trail further descends to Phakding which lies at the Dudh Koshi River valley. Phakding lies north of Lukla and this is our first stopover in the trek.

Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m)
At Phakding after having breakfast, we continue the trek to Namche. We cross the Dudh Koshi River. time and again through the suspension bridge. The prayer flags and khada (Buddhist shawl) decorate the bridge. We pass through the pine forest and approach Monjo. It is an entrance to Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. The trail climbs steeply as we enter the national park. The view keeps on opening with amazing vistas as we approach Namche Bazaar. It is the biggest Sherpa settlement in Nepal. This place is full of hotels, lodges, guesthouses, cafes, restaurants, internet cafes, and other means of facilities. On a clear day, we can see a glimpse of Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse too.

Acclimatization Day
A day at Namche Bazaar can be well spent either hiking or exploring Namche. If you plan to hike, we can go to Syangboche Airstrip. From here, we can see the Namche Valley along with the Himalayan vistas from a different angle. Later, we can trek to the Everest View Hotel – the highest-placed hotel in the world. It offers a panoramic view of Mt Everest and other series of mountains.
Back at the Namche, we can go to Sherpa Museum and Everest Photo Gallery to explore. Enjoy the liveliness of Namche Bazaar visiting the colourful markets. Savour the local and other delicacies at Namche and prepare for the next day.

Trek Namche Bazaar to Phortse (3,810m)
Today, we split our trek route from the Everest Circuit Trekking and follow the trail to Phortse. It is less explored and untouched by modernity. We ascend steadily and gradually until Mong La. This is the first place where we can see the Ama Dablam soaring at an altitude of 6812m. Apart from Ama Dablam, we can also see Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku Mountain. After Lunch at Mong La, we descend to Dudh Koshi River. Again, we ascend to Phortse passing through Rhododendron Forest. From here, the view of Cholatse and Tawache is amazing.

Trek Phortse to Machhermo (4,470m)
After breakfast, our journey to Machhermo starts. We cross the Dudh Koshi River and pass through Rhododendron and Pine Forest and reach Dole. It is a small settlement in Dudh Koshi Valley. Leaving behind the Dole, the trail gets steady and straightforward through scenic ridges. We can see Thamserku, Kantega, and Cho Oyu on the way. We reach Luza village. From here it’s a short trek to pastureland and farming area where Macchermo lies.

Trek Machhermo to Gokyo (4,800m)
After breakfast, we trek uphill. We can see a great view of Dudh Koshi Valley and the scenic view of Thamserku, Kantega, and Cho Oyu. The trail gets interesting as we pass through the terminal moraine of Ngozumpa Glacier. It is the longest glacier in Nepal. We walk through Longpongo, Raboche Tsho, and Dudh Pokhari. We finally reach Gokyo Valley, our destination.

Trek Gokyo Ri (5,357m) & Fifth Lakes (4,956m)
Today we acclimatize our bodies to prevent High Altitude Sickness. Early morning, we hike to Gokyo Ri to see the sunrise over the amazing Himalayan vistas. The panoramic view of Mt Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu can be seen on a clear day. Below you will see the small hamlet, Gokyo Valley along the tranquil Gokyo Lakes. We descend the valley and trek to the Fourth and Fifth Lakes of Gokyo. They are the beautiful lakes in the Gokyo Valley.

Trek Gokyo to Thangnak (4,750m)
Climbing Gokyo Ri would be today’s program if we were resting yesterday. The view from the top of the Gokyo Ri is worth experiencing. We trek to Thangnak which lies on the eastern side of the Gokyo Valley. We walk through Ngozumpa Glacier and reach the other side of the mountain. We traverse along this mountain and reach the base of Cho La Pass called Thangnak.

Trek Thangnak to Cho La (5,367m) pass to Dzongla (4,830m)
Today, we start our trek early before sunrise to dodge the extreme wind flow afternoon. The journey starts with a steep climb through boulders and ravines. The trail is usually slippery because of ice and snow. So, be careful with your steps. Passing through a rocky trail isn’t easy as we expect it to be. But the reward afterwards is beautiful. As you approach the Cho La pass, you can see cairns and prayer flags. The view of Ama Dablam from here is unique and appealing. You can also see the Cholatse, Lobuche East and Baruntse peeking from hundreds of peaks. We trek down to reach Dzongla.

Trek Dzongla to Lobuche (4,940m)
The trail from Dzongla to Lobuche is quite easy and merry. We descend from Dzongla and walk through the grassy trail. We enjoy the view of Lobuche Peak, Cholatse, and Tawoche on the way. The rest of the day we will take a rest and enjoy the views. We have to make sure our body is well acclimatized for the next day-long trail.

Trek Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,170m). Visit Everest Base Camp (5,364m)
Today is a big day. We walk slowly along the Khumbu Glacier. It is the world’s highest glacier located in the Khumbu region. We walk for 2-3 hours and reach Gorakshep with a few guesthouses. We check in and take a rest. From here we continue our trek to Everest Base Camp. This is the closest we can get to Mt Everest with a trekking permit. The glimpse of Khumbu Icefall and other mountains is breathtaking. During spring, we will be able to meet some of the climbers preparing themselves to climb Mt Everest. After spending some time, we return to Gorakshep retracing the same path.

Trek Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5,550m) to Dingboche
The trek to Kala Patthar is the toughest but the reward is bigger than you expect. Early dawn, we trek to Kalapatthar (5550m) passing through rocks and boulders to see the sunrise. At first, the sun’s rays kiss the Nuptse, Changtse, and Lhotse. The whole mountain ranges turn silver to gold. This is the best panoramic view one can see throughout this trek. The tears might drop with excitement. Capture those moments and back to Gorakshep. From Gorakshep, we trek down to Dingboche.

Trek Dingboche to Namche Bazaar
After breakfast, we trek down to Namche Bazaar. As you hike down to the lower region, the landscape keeps on changing. The barren landscape full of rocks and grey shades turns into a green and friendly environment. The heart gets content to see greenery and be back to Mother Nature. Lunch at Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual domain in the Khumbu region.

Trek Namche Bazaar to Lukla
We descend to Phakding and take the uphill trek to Lukla. We pass through a steep ridge, pine and rhododendron forest. Then we cross the suspension bridge to reach Lukla. We cherish our last day trek at Lukla with a small party with our team members.

In this travel package, we arrange transport facilities for Arrival & Departure depending upon the group size. For sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley, we arrange a good vehicle. The Drop facility to Syabrubesi and Pickup facility from Melamchi Pul is within this package. The vehicle will be nice and clean for transfer. During trek transfer, we provide 4WD transport as the ride is rough & bumpy. In the case of extra transportation arrangements (leaving the trek earlier from the group or other destinations not mentioned), you are responsible for an extra cost.
The accommodation at Kathmandu is in the star hotel on a BB basis. During the trek, each night you stay on a tea house/guesthouse run by local communities. Most of the tea houses are basic yet comfortable. The room is on a sharing basis with two beds. You will have a common hall for your meal & relaxing. In some places, the washroom (toilet) during the trek is the Squat toilet and used as a sharing one.
The Gosaikunda Trek is within the Langtang National Park of Nepal. The permits required during this Gosaikunda Trek are; 1. Langtang National Park Entry Permit 2. TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) Card
At Kathmandu, Breakfast is from the hotel side while the guest must arrange Lunch and Dinner on their own. At the same time, it is the best chance to explore Nepali-style food in Nepali Restaurants. On request, Lunch & Dinner is served. Farewell dinner will be served on behalf of Lets Trip Nepal Adventure Pvt. Ltd. The meal during the Langtang Valley Trek will be a simple and authentic Nepalese style. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the tea house where you are staying overnight, and lunch will be served on the way. The meals provided are fresh, organic, and locally grown vegetables. We don’t recommend having non-veg items (meats & dairy) during the trek, as they are not hygienic & healthy. Consumption of alcoholic drinks, caffeinated items & hot chocolate is bad during high altitude trek. All the Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be in the package during the trek.
The Gosainkunda Trek is easy. You descend and ascend slowly while taking a rest. Your body condition does not need to be top-notched. But the trek will be easier and more successful if you could walk 5-6 hours per day. Beware of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) while trekking. There is a gain in altitude and your body must be well acclimatized. We will pay extra attention while traversing through Gosaikunda. This is the highest pass during our trek. To have the stabilized stamina, attitude, and determination you can have a week-long walking practice before your trek day. If you have any critical problems like heart disease, blood cancer, lung problems, and other life-threatening diseases, please consult your doctor before trekking and take the necessary measures. You must inform any kind of such complication to Lets Trip Nepal Adventure Pvt. Ltd. as well.
The best time to visit Langtang Valley Trek will be in Autumn (September–November) and Spring (March-May). This is the best time to explore the unexplored terrain and the climatic condition is favorable. The weather will be warm, clean, and sunny with an incredible view of mountains and hills on the horizon. The winter season (December–February) is cold for trekking. The summer/monsoon season (June–August) will also not be favorable as the trail is slippery. You have to take great risks to complete the journey because of rainfall.
Tipping is solely a traveller’s choice, be more or less entirely their perception. The wages provided to Guide(s) & Porter(s) for the trek are basic wage which will be used for meals & accommodation. Normally, tips are offered at the end of the trek or end of the whole trip. The amount to give is decided by the group depending upon your perception of service quality, length of trip, budget, and appreciation of their work. In Nepalese culture, tipping is the way to express your happiness about the trip and our service quality. he weight limit for your baggage is 8 kg per trekker. Porters will be assigned to carry your baggage for your trek. One porter will carry the bags of two guests. The combined baggage should not exceed more than 16 kg. We are travelling to higher altitudes and should think about porters as well. So, we never overload our porters. You must carry your own knapsack or backpack (with your valuables or anything important) on your own. Only carry what are essentials as you have to leave any excess baggage either at your hotel or at the Lets Trip Nepal Adventure store for free and it’ll be completely safe.
Your trekking trail goes to the remote destinations of Nepal. Most of the places don’t have a good health center or even medicine at a time. So, you have to carry the some necessary medicines and have to think about your travel safety. Our guide(s) and porter(s) will not be responsible for any bad health hazards due to use of any medicine. They are only responsible to make your treks successful and give proper guidance during the trip.
